How to get to Prato

Monash University Prato Centre, housed in Palazzo Vaj - in the centre of the old town of Prato. Only two minutes from the city's cathedral and walking distance from both train stations (Prato Porta Al Serraglio and Prato Centrale).

How to get to Prato from Florence?

From Florence airport (Peretola): Prato is approximately 25 minutes by car or 40 minutes by bus. To take the bus, catch the service to Prato Stazione Fs 5 (stop located 220m from airport terminal on the main street). The bus stop closest to the Monash Prato Centre is on Via del Ceppo near the Castello dell’Imperatore/medieval castle ruins in central Prato. You can also catch a train from the airport into central Florence and from there catch a regional train (see below).

From central Florence: A taxi fare, one way between Florence and Prato is approx. 35-50 Euro. Trains run regularly between central Florence to Prato. REG routes to Pistoia or Lucca leave from Florence’s main train station (Firenze Santa Maria Novella) and stop at Prato Centrale train Station (3rd stop).  Many also stop at the second Prato railway station, Prato Porta al Serraglio (4th stop) but check individual schedules before departure if you wish to get off at that stop. The Monash Prato Centre is approx. 13 minutes walk from Centrale and 7 minutes from Porta al Serraglio.

How to get to Prato from Milan or Rome?

Take a fast train from the central railway station in either city to Firenze Santa Maria Novella (main train station in Florence). From there take a regional train to Prato.

How to get to Prato from Bologna?

From Bologna Airport: take train to Bologna Centrale station. From there a range of train routes including the intercity fast trains are available, many of which go to Florence. The Milan to Naples and some other intercity routes pass through Bologna and stop at Prato. Check and book at http://www.trenitalia.com. Once in Florence, take a regional train to Prato (see above).

How to get to Prato from Pisa?

Pisa Airport is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Prato by train (via Lucca or via Florence). Check and book at http://www.trenitalia.com.
